It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas!

This week we have been decorating our classroom and our hallways for Christmas. We learned about Advent and we made our own Advent candle wreaths.










We made Christmas wreaths, decorated stockings, marble painted ornaments,  and made our own Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer puppets.










The children enjoyed make the count down to Christmas chain. 18 days till Christmas!





The children are really enjoying playing with the classroom Nativity scene and reenacting the birth of baby Jesus.

We Are Thankful For...

We spent the week preparing for our Thanksgiving Program. The children made hand dipped candles, homemade butter and place-mats. We made thankful turkeys and made our Pilgrim and Indian costumes. We enjoyed seeing everyone that was able to come to our program. Here are several things that the children are thankful for:

Animal Habitats

This week we learned about different animal habitats. We read books about animal habitats and made our class book. We ended the week with Nature On The Move.

Another Busy Week

The author of the month was Mo Willems. We read many of his books. Some of our favorites are:

We ended our week with a guest reader Andrew Vorthman (Mrs. Vorthman's son). He read us The Duckling Gets a Cookie!?






On Tuesday our class got to take part in a mock election. Each child got the opportunity to vote for the president of their choice and received a special sticker that said I Voted! The notes were tallied and Governor Mitt Romney was the winner.

P is for Pumpkin

This week we started our Science unit on pumpkins.  We learned about the growing cycle of a pumpkin. We measured the height and circumference of our class pumpkin and made a pumpkin book. We used our  describing words to write about pumpkins. On Thursday, our class went on a field trip to Thies Pumpkin Patch.











This week we also learned about Mexico. Our class got to celebrate Mexico by doing a Pinata. We had a special guest speaker, Mr. Simpson. He talked to us about his trip to Mexico.





We ended our week with a Fall Party. We had a wonderful time. Thanks to all the parents who were able to come and help with the party.

Fall Is Here

This week we started our science unit on leaves. We read the story Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. We used the leaves the children gathered on their leaf hunts to create animals. Be sure to look at them in the hallway. 


 
Our guest reader this week was Mrs. Griffin. She read us pumpkin and Halloween books. Please look for the sign up sheet in the hallway to be a guest reader.

Another Busy Week

This week we made applesauce. We got to add cinnamon and lemon juice, then we mashed the apples and finally got to enjoy our homemade applesauce.







Thursday, Metro West Fire Department came with there safe house. Here are a few things we learned:

If there is smoke in your house you crawl under it.  Mackie
Check the doors to see if they are hot. Nate

The fireman will look for your dog or cat. Nora

We ended our week with a special guest reader, Mrs. Brown. We thank all of our guest readers for sharing their time with our class.

What An Amazing Week!

This week we learned about the letter "Pp". We had a PJ day, ate popcorn and had Principal Hays come read to us.





On Wednesday we celebrated Johnny Appleseeds Birthday. We read stories and dressed up like Johnny.
We ended our week with Grandparents Day. We shared a snack, made a craft but most of all we just loved having our grandparents visit our class.
